The azalea is a plant that belongs to the genus Rhododendron, grows spontaneously in the high mountains in humid, near water courses and we can also find it at altitudes of over four thousand meters. The azalea has its origins in Asia, North America and northern Europe.
Shrubs both indoors, particularly as bonsai, both from outside with small leaves, dark green, oval, hairy and leathery. May or deciduous or evergreen.

Variety of shrubs with foliage in open canopy, large, rough, oval or lance-shaped, dark green, glossy above, paler or rusty color on the underside, with revolute margin and glabrous, flowers single or double, from bright colors ranging from white, red, pink, purple, bell-shaped, lobes sometimes with wavy, grouped in large clusters at the ends of the branches.
