The Egyptian papyrus (Cyperus papyrus) is a marsh plant, perennial, rhizomatous, belonging to the family Cyperaceae.
The papyrus is a herbaceous perennial with a stem without leaves and with a diameter of 2-3 cm, smooth, dark green.
The top of each stem appear bracts lanceolate, curved, arranged like an umbrella.
The inflorescences are ombrelliformi and form at the top of the stems and bring the ears of straw-colored achenes that contain extended.
Flowering occurs from July to September.
