TAXUS, TASSO (TAXACEAE) BACCATA

Evergreen tree with a very slow growth, which is why in nature often comes in the form of a small tree or shrub, but under optimal conditions can reach 15-20 meters in height, the foliage has irregular globular shape, with branches very low.

The leaves are linear, slightly curved, up to 3 cm and dark green color on the top and lighter at the bottom, are placed on the branches with a spiral pattern, in two opposite rows.
It grows very slowly and propagates quite easily by cuttings or to layer and hard enough for seed. It has been widely used as a species from topiary and still is often used to form large hedges formal, as well as single sample.
